Outdoor Aquatic Center Rules & Safety Guidelines

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, all guests must follow these aquatic center policies:

 

General Pool Rules:

✔️ All guests 18+ must show a valid photo ID.   
✔️ Youth ages 13–17 must have a signed waiver from a parent/guardian.   
✔️ No alcohol, firearms, or smoking on the premises.   
✔️ No inflatables, water wings, or plastic water guns (Coast Guard-approved life jackets only).   
✔️ No diving, horseplay, or prolonged underwater breath-holding.


Safety Guidelines for Children:

✔️ Children 5 & under must have an adult (18+) in the water with them at all times.
✔️ Children 6–7 years old must have an adult in the pool area at all times.   
✔️ Children 8–12 years old must have an adult on the pool deck.   
✔️ Children 13+ may swim independently.

⛈Inclement Weather & Closure Policy

For the safety of all guests, the Outdoor Aquatic Center follows strict weather guidelines:  
 

🌩 Thunder & Lightning: The pool will close immediately at the first sign of thunder or lightning within 6 miles and will remain closed for at least 30 minutes after the last detection.

🌧 Heavy Rain: If rain limits visibility, the pool may close temporarily until conditions improve.

💦 Water Contamination: Pool closures may occur without notice due to Health Department guidelines.

☀️ Extreme Heat or Cold: The pool may modify hours based on unsafe temperatures or hazardous weather conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

No! Outdoor Aquatic Center memberships are available to non-YMCA members, but weekend and holiday access is reserved for OAC members and their guests.

All guests need to purchase their pool pass and check in at the Y Welcome Center inside the facility (accessed through the main lobby doors).

All guests need to bring the following with them to access the outdoor pool:

  • All guests over the age of 18 must bring a photo ID.
  • All guests ages 13-17 must have a YMCA youth guest waiver signed by their parent/legal guardian.
