YMCA Camp Lakewood is where kids come in the summer time to have fun, learn new skills, make new friends, and to simply be a kid.
Your camper will forget all about television, video games, and smartphones while discovering the ultimate childhood experience, all within a safe and trusted environment.
Camp Lakewood provides a well-rounded experience for campers and gets them outdoors to connect with nature. With a 360-acre lake, over 5,000 acres of forest-covered hills, caves, creeks and more, there are many opportunities for natural exploration and experiential learning. Whether it’s campfires, swimming, archery, zipline, sports, canoeing, cookouts, fishing, kayaking or a multitude of camp games, every camper delights in waking up with a renewed sense of excitement as to what new activities each day at camp will bring.
The health and safety of each camper is our primary concern. All staff are trained in skills that emphasize safety, youth development and group dynamics. Each counselor is trained in CPR and first aid, and all water activities are closely supervised by staff who are lifeguard certified. Please note that all campers will be required to wear life jackets when entering the lake for the waterpark as well as for boating or swimming. A medical professional is always available in our well-equipped camp infirmary, and our local physician is on call to assist in emergencies.
What does it mean when everyone at Camp Lakewood says it’s, “My Camp!”? It means every one of our campers has a home away from home. It means every one of our campers has a special place where they can try new things without judgment. It means every camper knows a place where they have friends, where they feel safe, happy and wanted. It means every one of our campers has a camp, their camp, and they know the camper sitting next to them feels the exact same way. It means they are an important part of YMCA Camp Lakewood. So when asked, “Whose camp is this?” – we are excited to hear them say…. “MY CAMP!”
Camp Lakewood Open House dates are designed to give parents and campers the opportunity to see Camp Lakewood in person before making any decisions. Come meet our camp directors, ask questions, see our beautiful property & lake, and even participate in some of the activities. You’ll be reassured that your camper will have the experience of a lifetime while summer camping at YMCA Camp Lakewood.
2022 Open Houses will be Sunday, March 20, Sunday, April 10 and Sunday, April 24. No appointment necessary. All open houses are from noon - 4 pm.

"I have four kids who have been going to Camp Lakewood for a grand total of 14 years. They all consider camp their second home and look forward to each and every year! The staff and activities just keep getting better and better each year. It's their camp!" - Jamie, Camper Parent
"I've been going to Camp Lakewood for about 10 years, and every year I go back because I get to see new faces and people who will become a part of my life forever. I love Camp Lakewood because, no matter the differences, we all come together as a family and make amazing memories that will last a lifetime. Without camp I would not be the person I am today. I have my camp family to thank for that." - Chris "Gerber," St. Louis
"First, thanks for the great memories created with my son - John Puzniak - this past week. It was his first time at Camp Lakewood and he said it was the best time all summer! (And we just returned from a week in Yellowstone!!) Before bed last night he had the entire family doing chants, and he expressed that he missed Gravy and Tato - his counselors. He said they were amazing!! Thank you to them and all of you." - Mieka Puzniak
"Sadie told us that LIT was the greatest experience of their life. They felt like they found their voice and gained the tools they need to be true to themselves. It's everything their father and I wanted for them. Congratulations on creating such an amazing program." - Carol McCorkal aka Sadie "Eggroll" mom
