Located in Sparta City Park, the pool is open to YMCA members and non-members throughout the summer season.

The Sparta City Municipal Pool is open seasonally from Memorial Day weekend (May 26) through Labor Day (September 1). Hours may vary based on weather and special events, so be sure to check for updates before visiting!

Make a splash this summer with private or semi-private swim lessons designed for all skill levels. Choose from 4 or 8-Lesson Sessions.
Private Lessons:
  • $140 (only $70 for Y members) - 4 sessions
  • $280 (only $140 for Y members) - 8 sessions
Semi-Private Lessons:
  • $87 (only $44 for Y members) - 4 sessions
  • $174 (only $87 for Y members) - 8 sessions

We follow strict safety guidelines for weather-related closures.


Inclement Weather & Closure Policies:

🌩 Thunder & Lightning: Pool will close for 30 minutes after the last sign of thunder or lightning.

🌧 Heavy Rain: If rain reduces visibility, the pool may temporarily close.

💦 Water Contamination: Pools may close without notice based on Health Department guidelines.

☀️ Extreme Heat or Cold: Pool hours may be adjusted for safety and guest comfort.

Outdoor Pool Rules

Our YMCA staff reserves the right to implement any rule or guideline in order to protect the health, experience, safety, and well-being of all facility patrons.

• Children of diaper age MUST wear a swim diaper.

• Children 5 years of age and younger must have an adult (age 18 and older) in the water with them within arm’s reach

• Children age 6-7 must have an adult in the pool area at all times.

• Children age 8 – 12 must have and adult on the pool deck.

• Children age 13 years and older may use the swim facilities independently.

• Please walk on the pool deck.

• Diving is not permitted.

• Alcohol and firearms are not permitted on facility grounds.

• Appropriate swim suits/trunks must be worn in the pool.

• All swimmers must take a soap shower before entering the pool.

• Breath holding and long periods of underwater swimming are not permitted.

• Sitting on or hanging on lane lines or lifelines unless a true emergency. Do not remove any lines.

• Inappropriate language is not permitted.

• Only U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets or swim aids permitted. Water wings, rafts and inflatables not permitted.

• Only diapers approved as swim diapers are allowed in the pool.

• Patrons who do not follow the guidance of the lifeguards will be asked to leave with no refund or credit provided.

• Thunder and Lightning: The pool will close for a minimum of 30 minutes if a guard hears thunder or sees lightning. The pool will close for the day if weather conditions are hazardous.

• Obstructed View: If weather or water conditions impact the lifeguard’s ability to see the bottom of the pool, the pool will close until the obstruction is remedied.

• Water contamination may cause the pool area to close without notice. This is in accordance with Health Department guidelines and is for the safety of everyone.
