Y Achievers Event

Y Achievers will help teens discover their identities, embrace their passions, and become their best selves.

The Gateway Region YMCA will launch a new teen program with an open house on Sunday, October 17. Y Achievers is a college readiness, career exploration, and life preparation program open to teens (ages 13-19) throughout the St. Louis region. The program seeks to inspire participants to become leaders in their community and achieve academic excellence through tools and activities that prepare them for life and expose them to diverse career options.

“Teens in St. Louis face many challenges and there are not always enough resources to help guide them,” said Kemet Hetep, associate executive director at the East Belleville YMCA and Y Achievers Liaison. “The Y has always been a leader in providing opportunities for teens, and our Y Achievers program works to give students the self-confidence, motivation, and character to succeed not only professionally, but also personally.”

“Y Achievers creates opportunities for teens to succeed in school and in life. It also creates an opportunity through our Adult Achievers mentorship for local corporations to support teens while creating a potential employment pipeline of competent, motivated young adults.”

To participate in Y Achievers, teens must complete an application and be committed to participate in workshops and events, including volunteering opportunities.
