Offered throughout the entire summer, YMCA Traditional Day Camps are designed for a wide variety of conventional interests that may include arts & crafts, group games, nature exploration, swimming, field trips and more. Camps are themed weekly. Most camp activities are held outdoors with indoor activities provided based on the day and theme. Day campers are divided into groups by grade level or age.

Special Interest Camps are designed to offer activities focused on a particular interest while incorporating overall traditional Y camp principles. Camp size may be smaller and may be offered either indoors or outdoors based on the specific interest. From 9 am - noon, campers participate in their special interest camp. From noon - 4 pm, campers participate in traditional camp activities.

Arts & Humanities Camps (ages 5-14)

Our Arts & Humanities camps encourage personal expression and the freedom to create, and provide new experiences for kids. Creativity abounds at the Y.

Sports Camps (ages 6-12)

In Sports Camps, campers spend their day immersed in a specific sport learning fundamental skills and then applying those skills in a game setting. The focus is on introducing and/or improving skills for each sport with an emphasis on individual skill development, teamwork, and building self-confidence in an environment that encourages having fun and making friends.

The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program at the Chesterfield YMCA offers teens ages 13-15 the opportunity to gain practical experience working with campers while cultivating essential skills and knowledge. The program's primary goal is to empower teens with leadership abilities that extend to their school, home, and community life.

Families interested in the CIT program should submit their applications by April 12, 2024. Once an application is received, the Camp Director will contact the applicant to arrange an interview and screening, finalizing the selection process. It's important to note that due to limited space, not all interviewed applicants will be selected.

Program Requirements:

Time Period: Minimum of 4 Weeks
Hours: 8:45 am-4 pm
Fee: $45 per week
Participants exceeding 4 weeks will not be charged for weeks 5 and beyond

Key Points to Note:

  • Registrations are processed based on the order of receipt at the branch and subsequently by the organization's Inclusion & Adaptive Support Services department
  • To avoid delay in the registration process, fully complete and provide all requested documents.
  • Please allow at least two weeks for processing, especially during peak Summer Day Camp enrollment times.
  • Your child's start date depends on the staffing and capacity situation at the branch, regardless of their support needs.
  • We ensure information is securely handled per HIPAA guidelines.
  • Additional information may be requested.

The Gateway Region YMCA is committed to serving individuals without discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, age, military or veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other legally protected factor.
