The Gateway Region YMCA Achievers is a bi-state college readiness, career exploration, and life preparation program which provides students of color with the essential tools to pursue higher education, define life goals and identify different career opportunities.

Teen Leaders

Leaders Club is a program for teens ages 13-18 that provides opportunities for personal and professional development. Leaders are forces for good in our communities and are intentional about serving others. The Y is able to provide college knowledge and readiness, job and college application help, opportunities for travel and networking, and development of peer leadership skills through interactions with positive adult staff and mentors.

Back to Basics

In collaboration with St. Louis University School of Law and the Missouri Black Caucus, Back to Basics is an 8-week hands-on learning program for teens ages 13 - 18. During this program, teens will learn about the government and how they can affect change. This is an ideal program for students looking to learn more about politics and policy.

Youth and Government

Youth and Government (YAG) provides students the opportunity to experience the democratic process and develop the leadership skills needed to become citizens of a participatory society. Based on the motto “Democracy Must Be Learned By Each Generation,” Youth and Government is a nationwide program that involves more than thousands of youth each year.  Missouri YAG is for grades 7-12 each year.

Teen Camp

Teens in our teen camp are engaged in spirit, mind, and body through programming that focuses on health, arts, STEM and giving back through community service. The camp provides teens a voice in their experience with a variety of opportunities that support their interests while exploring new ones. This month-long camp is free for teens in St. Louis City who meet financial need requirements.
