Gateway Region YMCA Receives $10K donation from Jayson Tatum Foundation & NBA Cares in Honor of World Basketball Day
In celebration of World Basketball Day on December 21, the Jayson Tatum Foundation (JTF) has announced a $10,000 donation to the Gateway Region YMCA. Provided in coordination with NBA Cares, the donation will provide enhancement to the gym and support affordable basketball programming and clinics for youth at the O’Fallon Park Rec Complex in North St. Louis City.
“We are honored to receive this gift from his foundation, and know this will help serve youth in need in the North St. Louis community.”
The check was presented by Kristie Jursch, JTF Director of Programming and grandmother of Jayson, Tino Ochoa, attorney for Jayson and the JTF, and Abby Rogers, Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer, YMCA of the USA.
World Basketball Day, established by the United Nations in 2023, honors the anniversary of the game's invention at a YMCA in 1891. This year’s celebration holds extra significance as it aligns with the YMCA’s 175th anniversary.
