Designed for campers who crave outdoor adventure, over the course of a 5-night week (Sunday–Friday), Rangers build essential outdoor living skills from our experienced staff.
🏕️ Junior Rangers
Ages 10-12
Based in Main Camp, campers sleep outdoors and learn shelter building, campfire cooking, teamwork, and more.
🥾 Hiking Rangers
Ages 13-16
Rangers will take a journey of backpacking adventures to uncover hidden gems within the 5,200-acre campgrounds.
🔥 Survival Rangers
Ages 13-16
Rangers will master wilderness survival skills, including shelter building, fire making, and cooking.
🧱 Rustic Engineering Rangers
Ages 13-16
Rangers will design and build practical structures, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills in a natural environment.
🌳 Ozark Adventure Rangers
Ages 13-16
Explore the Ozark region with an off-site canoe trip and day trips to local Ozark gems, while learning navigation, outdoor skills, and paddling and hiking techniques.
🛶 Canoeing Rangers
Ages 13-16
Rangers will dedicate their initial days to mastering various paddling techniques, building fires and shelters, and packing essentials, all geared toward an incredible offsite canoe trip on the Huzzah River.

Equestrian Camps
A 5-night (Sunday-Friday) camp session that's perfect for campers passionate about horses.
🐴 Equestrian Explorers & Pathfinders
For horse-loving campers, Equestrian Camp teaches grooming, saddling, and horse handling. Riding skills progress with trotting, cantering, and advanced techniques, including multiple trail rides and an overnight with their horse. Camp traditions like games and swimming complement the equestrian focus.

🧭 Explore Our Outdoor Education Programs
Beyond summer camp, Camp Lakewood offers an Outdoor Education Program that brings classrooms to the great outdoors. This program is ideal for school groups, youth organizations, and those who want a hands-on, experiential learning environment.
My son hasn’t stopped talking about how much fun he had in the Junior Rangers. He wants to come back next year for the Rangers program. I was impressed with the whole program. It was very simple to navigate the registration, and check-in process. The packing checklist was excellent and my son said he didn’t bring anything he didn’t need and wasn’t without anything required.
