The Y offers a variety of Taekwondo classes for youth and adults alike. Y instructors are among the best in their respective martial art, providing an encouraging, non-intimidating, and family-friendly environment - while making it fun! Students learn to strengthen their bodies and the value of hard work, discipline, honor, integrity and respect.
Taekwondo is a martial art that combines combat and self-defense techniques with sport and exercise. Taekwondo training is well-rounded, focused on fast kicking, balance, dodging, blocking, punching, open hand strikes, self-defense and stamina.
The focus at the YMCA is not based on quickly achieving belts. Our goal is to introduce the sport to the community and help students that aspire to become great martial artists achieve their goals.
Session Length: 8 Weeks
Class Time: 45 Minutes
Days Offered: Mondays & Wednesdays
Student testing is conducted once per session. Students are welcome to try a class and decide if they enjoy the activity.
This program is geared for beginner students ages 6-13. Students will be introduced to the sport and learn the basics. Students may earn white through yellow belts.
This program is geared for students ages 6-13 who have earned a yellow belt. Students will be continue training in the sport and working towards achieving their goals. Students may earn green through black belts.
This program is geared for students ages 13 and older interested in martial arts. All abilities and belt levels are welcome. Our goal is to introduce the sport to the community and help those who aspire to become great martial artists achieve their goals.
Personal Training & Small Group Personal Training
The Y offers one-on-one personal training with an instructor and small group training. Students are given the opportunity to focus on their personal goals at their own pace.
Registration is available at our Welcome Center or online.
